Based on the Gold Coast in Queensland, ACIT & IFTV offer courses in telecommunications, digital media, IT networking, social media marketing, and screen production for film and television.
Well-developed partnerships with key industry players such as Microsoft, Juniper Networks, Cisco and VM Ware keep courses up-to-date with industry standards, innovative practice and employer expectations. Students have direct access to official training and certification programs made available through these partners, and enjoy 100% graduate placement success as a result.
Film and television students are given the opportunity to intern with studios in Australia and Hollywood. It is a source of pride for Sonya that every single student in the past 25 years has been employed in the industry they trained for.
2019 will see the college launch its School of Entrepreneurs offering a Diploma of Business.
Sonya is highly regarded within the IT and digital media industry for her enterprise in education.
Since 2012, Sonya has travelled globally with prominent business and government leaders. She has been a member of high-profile delegations on trade missions and endeavours of educational export. She has attended conferences and expos world-wide and has used this experience to enhance her own capability and understanding.
In 2014, Sonya travelled to China with the (then) Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull. She was invited to speak at the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics World Congress in Beijing about education and employment on behalf of the Brazilian government (CONIF – National Council for the Federal Network of Vocational Institutions).
Sonya regularly presents to international delegations, speaking about education systems, technology and media.

Sonya McGuire is passionate about providing quality education with positive employment outcomes. Through ACIT & IFTV, she has played an important role in shaping modernised, state-of-the-art technology education, which encompasses security, networking, engineering, digital media and film and television.
Sonya founded ACIT in 1995. Understanding the importance of hands-on learning, Sonya acquired the OPTUS Vision studios in Brisbane in 1999 and subsequently launched the Institute of Film and Television.
IFTV provides a professional and creative approach to the study of film and television. IFTV curriculum includes screenwriting, cinematography, visual effects, editing and unit production management.
The Gold Coast has a long and vibrant history of film and television production. IFTV is part of that history. With decades of course development experience, state of the art facilities and highly qualified staff, IFTV incorporates current industry trends into academic programs.
